About
My interests center on three thematic constellations, i.e. counter-censorship, antropofagia (i.e. the Brazilian Modernist movement of the 1930s and its offshoots), scatology (‘scat-art’), and the interaction (‘cannibalisms’) between Latin American and Western avant-gardes.
This all from a perspective informed by aesthetic theories.
This constellation brings to the fore the fine line between the literal and the metaphorics of eating, ingesting, indigestion, devouring (... with your eyes ...), the poetics/politics of transubstantiation, the deconstructive figure of the parasite as opposed to the evil Hegelian 'cannibal' that gobbles up all difference, the latter's reconfiguration in Latin American artistic theory/praxis, and so on.
