Thesis Title: An Ungrounded Earth: Dark Vitalism and the Inorganic
About
I am a PhD candidate at the Centre for Theory and Criticism at the University of Western Ontario.
My PhD dissertation work focuses on reading the Naturphilosophie and Identity Philosophy of FWJ von Schelling as a realist philosophy of nature in conjunction with numerous philosophies of becoming (Deleuze, theories of dispositions, and others) and connect this transcendental dynamism to a lived philosophy (dark vitalism) as well as to the aesthetic project and work of Timothy Morton and to ecological concerns at large.
I received my Masters in Media Philosophy at the European Graduate School (EGS).
My thesis focused on constructing a nihilistic speculative realist philosophy of nature through a discussion of such science-fictive monstrosities as planet killers, ungrounding machines, giant worms, alien reality-altering artifacts, and the spatio-temporal dimensions of Hell.
I am also co-founder/co-contributor of/to Speculative Heresy.
I am an editor of Helvete - a journal of Black Metal Theory.

I am editor and co-creator (with Timothy Morton) of Thinking Nature - a journal of philosophy, art, and science as it relates to the concept of nature.
