About
I am an archaeologist interested in human/environmental interactions - especially environmental impact, disease (particularly zoonotic diseases) and food production. Most of my work is done in the lab, under a microscope - but I enjoy working in the field whenever possible. My most active fieldwork is currently in Iceland, where I've worked on Viking Age settlements for five years.
I am the Project and Operations Manager of the University of Western Ontario's Sustainable Archaeology Research & curation centre in London, Ontario. This is a joint project between the University of Western Ontario and McMaster University, Principle Investigators are Neal Ferris and Aubrey Cannon, respectively. At capacity, the two facilities will hold in trust over 83,000 boxes of artifacts, primarily from CRM contexts. The artifacts will be entered into a digital database that is currently in development and will be made available on the web in 2013. The UWO facility will specialize in 3D reconstruction and immersive archaeological environments - the McMaster facility will focus on materials analysis.
