In my research I am trying to systematically locate media in Marx's political economy by using medium theory alongside the circuit of capital that Marx discusses in Capital Volume 2. A medium theory reading of Marx necessitates redefining media as (to paraphrase McLuhan) extensions of the functions of capital's particular forms. The overall function of media is logistical because they enable and accelerate the circulation of capital; both the formal metamorphosis of capital's economic forms and capital's real circulation in time and space.
